Brian Hock was one of 40 design professionals selected to participate in the AIGA Harvard Business School (HBS) Program “Business Perspectives for Design Leaders.” The program included a diverse group of design leaders from a wide range of companies including Cisco Systems, Target, Yahoo, IBM, Razorfish, and many mid-size to smaller firms.

The weeklong program provided an opportunity for students to work with top HBS faculty on strategy, marketing, branding, finance, communication, leadership and negotiating skills. The experience was one of learning, facing up to rigorous challenges, hearty discussion and networking. "Business Perspectives for Design Leaders" was designed exclusively for design executives who work with clients to develop a strategic design response to client challenges. This response may be in the form of a comprehensive communication or positioning strategy, or the design of a range of products or services. Participants viewed the design process as an integral part of solving complex problems, whether that experience involves communication, functional or strategic design. This program was particularly beneficial to design professionals who deal with top-level executives and/or larger corporate clients.

"Business Perspectives" used focused case studies, lectures, guest speakers and study groups to examine cutting-edge topics, address critical issues and engage top minds in dynamic discussions. You can learn more about the program on the aiga.org web site.
